The Beach 2008

This past June, we had an incredible vacation. It was SO FUN!! We spent the majority of our time sitting and playing right on the beach. Bryanna was totally in her element, spending the whole week with her favorite people, her cousins! She also was fearless and went in the ocean with her Daddy and myself. Maddox was an angel and actually started walking while down at the Beach house...I personally am grateful for all the sand on the floor, he was disgusted with the way it felt on his knees while crawling, and so the alternative was to stand on his feet and WALK!!!!!

Bon fires were also a nightly routine, eating smores and having long talks, it was the perfect get-a-way. We ate at our favorite restaurants, The Fisherman's Warf, and Sonny's Italian place, those eateries are never a dissapointment.

Three generations of vacationing on Beach Road, my mom grew up going to the beach, so naturally I grew up vacationing there, and now my kids have the pleasure of spending a week of their summer by the ocean. I love this tradition and I am so grateful for the fun memories we have and look forward to making new ones next year.

Every time I am down there, it always feeds a desire to move and create my life liveing by the seashore. One day that dream just may come true of owning beach front property!! As for now, the vacation is serving its purpose, getting our whole family together, enjoying eachother's company and relaxing from the normal stresses of the daily grind! Can't wait til next year...

The past week

As I ponder my life and all that encompasses it, I feel so blessed. Most of that comes from being a wife and mother. I absolutely LOVE staying home with my children. The other day, Bryanna got into a cupboard and found two suckers. One was bigger than the other, so she, of course, took that one for herself, and gave the smaller one to Maddox. I was busy cleaning during her little adventure on my counter and when I came back into the kitchen, I was surprised and taken back. My 3 year old was being the girl I know she is; found a treat and SHARED it with her little brother!! I was thrilled. These are the moments that totally make motherhood SO WORTH IT!
Because Maddox can't chew, he just kept sucking, the sucker got so small and cute, I had to snap a picture of it!! Bryanna is very caring and when it is manifested in her actions it just helps confirm the little person she is becoming.

And Maddox was having some fun with my sister's dogs playing with their toys! We are watching them for a bit and my kids are loving playing with the most lovable dogs ever!

We had our team luncheon for my tennis team the other day, and I just had to post the picture of our team. We came in Second for our flight this season, which is amazing because the team we thought was going to take first, actually came in third! THe margin was only by three games that we came in for second place...first place was within grasp! Now we know for next season!

Grandpa's Funeral

Mark ended up driving to Cedar City with me on Friday, and then took off to SLC later that night so he could be there for his friend's wedding on Saturday. He drove back to Cedar City Saturday night, so we could drive home Sunday. The road trip proved to be easy afterall.

This is Mark wearing PINK for the wedding!! I have tried to get him some pink ties or shirts and he refuses to wear them!! He must really like his friend, Casey, to put on this! I just wonder why he can't do it for me:)

We had a family gathering on Friday night, and I think if it weren't for this funeral, I wouldn't have seen some relatives for another ten years or so it seems! I think that is one of the neat things about funerals, most everyone in the family will come to pay their final respects and honor the life they lived. I have to say, though I knew alot of things about my Grandpa, there were some new things I learned during the service, some wild and daring adventures; he lived in the Jungle of Peru and visited the Holy Land 9 times.

He and my Grandmother had TEN children (my dad is the fourth of ten), 39 Grandchildren and 40 Great Grandchildren. That is one VERY large posterity, 89 people and counting!!

Grandpa Andersen served 33 months in WWII, he was a SNIPER (among other things), and JUMPED OUT OF AIRPLANES, and even did so on D-day in Normandy...he was truly a WAR HERO.

During the Eulogy, I learned that he went to primary on his own and through those experiences and great faith he was baptized as a young boy. While serving as a soldier, he had this strong impression the Lord was preserving him as he watched his friends and Comrads die in combat. I think part of his preservation from the war were many reasons including the blessing of his children and great posterity, and being a proactive missionary his entire life, teaching about Christ. I remember him ALWAYS talking about the gospel...incorperating it into ANY conversation with ANYONE.

Most importantly, I am so grateful for my Grandpa in teaching my dad the gospel, loving and supporting him, teaching him the ropes in construction and what it takes to be a good, and honest Contractor. And even more unique is that my husband is in those shoes as well, working and learning in that field with my dad. I will be forever grateful because my dad has passed those things onto me, and I cannot be more blessed.

I was not expecting so many emotions during our trip, but I couldn't hold back the tears. Claiming the prize for biggest cry baby of the year, will give you a little insight:) I was mostly sorry for my dad and his siblings in losing their father, as for me, I was sad that I didn't know him better! But isn't that what eternity is for? I have a small feeling of regret not being closer with him, and I think if that were the case, I would still be crying!!! Lol!! Now I know what to expect, slightly, when my mom's parents pass away, whom I am very close to and talk with weekly, and take family vacations with.

This was on the day my parents were married, standing with their parent's at their sides. These are the most amazing and influential people in my life, (besides my husband!) My Grandpa Andersen is far right, with his wife, Annie Belle (who passed away in 1982). On the far left is Grandpa Noorda and his wife, Joyce (Nana), whom are still living.

Not looking foward to losing them, as for now, I will try to live in the present and enjoy everyday with everyone who is in my immediate and small life on earth. I can only imagine the great and big family reunion that will take place in the life after this with those who are already there. The true beauty of the gospel is Eternal Families!

In Memory Of...

My grandpa Andersen passed away last night. It is an answer to a prayer, the last few months his health took a nose dive and his body shut down. He was suffering so much that it was merciful of the Lord to finally take his spirit. My dad is such a hero to me, in that, in the last year or so, he would drive up to St. George and do sessions at the Temple with him weekly, which was a small sacrifice to go up during the week when there was business and work to attend to. Then after his health really worsened, he would drive up to Cedar City where my Grandpa was being taken care of by my Aunt Terry, and my dad would help relieve her of night duty occasionally. Through all of this, I saw my father's fierce loyalty and devotion to his ailing dad, helping him in every way he saw possible. It made me realize that dad is this way in all aspects of his life, devoted to family and the Lord's church, he will come to your rescue, help anyone in need, in which I'm sure was passed on from his own parents.

Grandpa Andersen's funeral is this Saturday in Cedar City, UT and I will be traveling WITHOUT Mark, he is attending his best friend's wedding this Saturday in SLC. So, my plans for a low-key, take the kids to Chuck 'E' Cheese and let them play their little hearts out have changed to Road Trip!! I am gearing up the courage to take this short, but long trip, and will try to have a cheerful attitude!

Stacy's Movie Review

I love the summer for a few reasons; nonstop swimming, the beach vacation, and MOVIES! I LOVE going to the movies, if I could go every weekend during the summer, I would go! I like three types of movies...romance comedy, action/thrillers, and drama, with an exception here and there of a stupid comedy like Napoleon Dynamite.

Indiana Jones...Two Thumbs Up!!

After my kids nap time on Saturday, (and mine, I'm happy to say I finally got my first nap in after the move...way over due:) we headed over to Green Valley Ranch as a family to see this block buster film. Harrison Ford was a bit older than the last Indiana Jones films that came out years ago, and surprisingly he still had some fighting moves left in him. Although this one didn't have quite the leading lady from the past ones...which really didn't make a difference, it was still great!

It was mostly fantastic, with the exception of a CRANKY lady who probably didn't have any kids of her own, complaining to me that my kids were too loud...I must admit that if a child is crying, that is one thing, but my kids were NOT crying through the entire film. They were actually really happy and Maddox was making cute (of course I think all his noises are cute) baby noises, his jibber-jabber is just so lovable! I think people have more tolerance when they can relate to other's situations. Too bad for her, and her mean attitude! I highly recommend this box office hit...very entertaining, go see it!

Maid of Honor...once again, Two Thumbs Up!!

I loved, loved, loved this film...a bit of a hopeless romantic, I drouled through this "chick flick"!! Patrick Dempsey, and his co-star, Michelle Monaghan, had the on screen chemistry the audience loves to see! The plot was a bit unrealistic, but I have to say it was very entertaining, with lots of twists and turns...and the ending was exactly what I hoped for. Go see it, and if not, rent it when it comes out!!
